1/2cBrown sugar
1pnCinnamon
2 Granny Smith apples --
  Sliced
  Buckle:
3/4cAlmond paste
1cSugar
1/2cButter
1/2cShortening
1pnSalt
1tsVanilla
3 Whole eggs
1cBread flour
  Crunch Topping:
1/2cLight brown sugar
1/2tsCinnamon
1/4tsSalt
1/4cButter (cold small cubes)
  Blackberry Compote:
2cBlackberries
3/4cGranulated sugar
1/3cOrange juice
1pnCinnamon
1pnCloves
1/4cOrange juice
1tbCornstarch
  Brown Sugar Creme Fraiche:
  Creme Fraiche
  Brown sugar to taste

To prepare the apples, combine butter, sugar and cinnamon in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Add apples and simmer until the apples are tender.

To prepare the buckle, combine almond paste and sugar in mixing bowl. Using paddle attachment mix it until well blended and not lumpy. Add shortening and butter to continue to mix on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add salt, vanilla, eggs one at a time, until well blended. Add flour slowly,

I think burnt feet are *much* worse than burnt tongues .... if nothing else, they last longer :(

We're getting ready for a cold front this weekend. Should get down to the low 80's as highs Saturday :) My thermometer today reads a smooth 100 although the TV says 99 is the expected high I know it'll go back up to low to mid-90's next week but even a day of 80's is soooo welcome!
